The Fermi Paradox, Revisited

The Fermi Paradox simply questions why we fail to see evidence of extraterrestrial life when there appear to be so many known solar systems.

Perhaps the answer is not so complicated. Maybe we aren't worth contacting.

I contend that no self respecting alien life form would want to make contact with us until we get our shit together. As far as planetary civilizations go we are pretty retarded. We speak no universal language, we have no central body to negotiate with and we defile our planet. Hell we can't even agree on a universal system of weights and measurements.

Until we become approachable we will remain isolated perhaps even marginalized by the other life forms which obviously must be present but who want absolutely nothing to do with us. We will slowly crumble under own weight unless we can get an infusion of intelligence from another source.

It is for this reason I propose the International Galactic Society (IGS). A society of like minded individuals determined to make us approachable by other forms of intelligent life.

We need a universal language (I propose English), a universal system of weights and measures (fuck the metric system) and a universal global governing body (led by me of course) to get started. Once we have overcome these minor obstacles we can move onto more fundamental challenges like galactic advertising, galactic language translators and accommodations which are galactic accessible. Oh, and we will also need a galactic website and associated attractive logo.
